lie the Skeena, Atna and Sicintine Mountain Ranges where
8250 km2 of remote wilderness and untouched Canadian powder
await. The heliskiing area boasts countless new runs to
be explored.. This, coupled with breathtaking alpine runs
make Skeena Heliskiing one of Canada’s premiere
heliskiing areas. Add a 300 to 400+ cm base and you have
a skier’s nirvana. |

| Safety
(Guides, Air Crew and Associations) |
At Skeena Heliskiing we strive to give
you an enjoyable ski vacation tailored to suit your needs.
Our primary concern, above all else, is your safety and
the safety of our staff.
The Skeena guiding team and aircrew have been selected
for their professional excellence. They are a rare group
of individuals that have had the good fortune to blend
their love for the mountains and a passion for skiing
or flying into a career.
All of our guiding team is either UIAGM or ACMG certified.
Before each season the Skeena guiding and pilot team attends
additional training seminars to supplement and review
certain skills. Ongoing training includes snow, weather
and avalanche training, rescue training, first aid courses,
heli safety, wildlife observation skill development and
Environmental Management Systems training. Both Guides
and pilots receive additional preseason training.
Upon arrival you will be instructed in a series of rescue
techniques and safety protocols. Every guest is issued
an avalanche transceiver and a small pack containing an
avalanche probe and shovel.
Guides and pilots follow stringent operational procedures
as outlined by HeliCat Canada. This organization provides
stringent safety and operational criteria which all operators
must meet in order to obtain membership. Daily weather
and field observations are made and along with a detailed
stability forecast are submitted to the Canadian Avalanche
Association. This information exchange is a collaborative
effort on the part of all operators to make better and
more informed decisions on snow stability. Despite our
continued efforts the mountains have the final word. We
can not control the environment. The mountains and weather
pose certain risks, which can not be eliminated. These
risks are above normal risks in day-to-day life. For this
reason we ask that you accept these risks in writing by
filling out and signing a waiver prior to your trip. |
|
|
| Snowboarders |
| If you are considering taking your snowboard
along or if you are a boarder at heart, no worries, we
have enough terrain to provide you with the right choice
of runs. |
